Ahmed Nasser is a leader in the world of international sports. An Olympic athlete with extensive experience in management and coaching, Nasser has been a pioneer in organized sports across Africa and the Middle East. Globally, he has partnered with athletic associations in Europe, Russia, and the United States, brokering agreements and serving as an advisor to entities like the U.S. Olympic Committee. Nasser is also well respected in sports media circles, producing a number of successful sports programs and providing expert commentary for national and international media outlets. As an Egyptian, Arab, and African champion – and the Arab record holder for many years – Ahmed Nasser was invited to joint training camps with the USA, Hungary, Germany, Poland, and other countries that were leaders in the field of sports. This was in part due to Nasser’s expertise and talent in Modern Pentathlon, in which he scored the world record of 199/200 at the 1983 Modern Pentathlon World Championships in Germany.

The only Egyptian, Arab, and African athlete to participate in four national teams at the same time, representing Egypt between 1982 and 1984 as “Master of the National Teams” in Modern Pentathlon, Water Polo, Fencing, and Equestrian.

Ahmed Nasser is one of the most recognized and decorated figures in sport across the Middle East and Africa. He founded a number of Olympic Federations, like Triathlon in Egypt (August 2009). This leadership positioned him to play a key role in organizing continental, regional, and international championships. During Nasser’s presidency, Egypt’s athletes enjoyed unprecedented success at medaling in many global, continental, and regional championships.
In the 1970s, Nasser co-founded the Olympic Modern Pentathlon in Egypt. During his presidency, a number of victories were achieved for Egypt, including: Winning the World Championship; receiving first place in the International Women’s classification; competing in the 2008 Olympics (Beijing), earning sixth and eighth places in the women’s competition and, in the men’s competition, setting the Modern Pentathlon Olympic swimming record.
During Nasser’s presidency of the Association of African Sports Confederations (AASC/UCSA), the organization has achieved unprecedented success in partnership with the African National Olympic Committees Association (ANOCA) and the African Union Commission by signing the organizational Agreement of the All African Games (which take part every 4 years) for the 6 Games tournaments starting from 2019 in Morocco Under Nasser’s leadership, the AASC has acquired 60 Olympic and non-Olympic sports federations, and the AASC has been elevated to serve as the Technical body responsible for Sport in Africa (competitive and lifestyle). These achievements have helped to distinguish Nasser as one of the world’s most recognized sports leaders.
Achievements in Sports Management

A co-Founder of the Modern Pentathlon, in 1975.

The first representative to sign a cooperation agreement with the U.S. Modern Pentathlon Association, through the U.S. Olympic Committee, to benefit the Arab Republic of Egypt. This resulted in the creation of an annual one-month camp at the largest World Olympic Training Center, in Colorado Springs, from 2005 - 2008. The agreement is still in effect.

The first representative to sign a cooperation protocol with the Syrian Federation of Modern Pentathlon to assist the Egyptian Federation, 2006 - 2007.

Founder and President of the Modern Pentathlon Arab Confederation. The Confederation started with two Arab countries and, under Nasser’s leadership, it has now grown to include 19 Arab countries. Nasser was able to sustain this union and expand it through self-financing.

President of the Egyptian Modern Pentathlon Federation, 2004 - 2008. During this period, Egypt achieved a number of International and Olympic victories. In addition, for the first time, the Federation organized several World Championships in Egypt. During his presidency, the Federation was recognized as one of the best in the world, resulting in recognition by the International Pentathlon Union. Nasser has self-funded the Federation, quadrupling the budget originally established by Egypt’s Ministry of Youth.

The establishment of the Egyptian Triathlon Federation, which Nasser self-funded, has led Egypt to a prestigious ranking in International and African competitions. Within one year, as a result of his efforts, Nasser was appointed Adviser to the International Triathlon Federation. He was also named as a Board Member of the African Federation.

Since 2012, when he was named President of the Arab Union, Nasser has played a key role in elevating Triathlon. Membership in the Union has increased from 4 to 19 countries.

Nasser has contributed significantly to the growth of Triathlon in Africa as the sport’s Development Adviser. The number of members has increased from 10 to 44, producing 51 African and Arab/Asian countries in coordination with the President of the International Federation, Marisol Casado of Spain.

Since October 2015, Nasser has served as President of the African Sports Confederations (AASC) and Technical Officer for Sport in Africa. Over the years, he has achieved numerous successes, such as establishing a second Headquarters in Egypt (African Sports House). Nasser has received a number of visits by: Dr. Thomas Bach, President of the International Olympic Committee; Major General Lassana Palenfo, President of the ANOCA; First Vice President of ANOCA, Mr. Mustafa Berraf of Algeria. The goal of these meetings has been to escalate and unite sports in Africa.

In September 2018, under Nasser’s chairmanship of the AASC, an agreement was signed among the African Olympic Committee, the African Union, and the AASC, decreeing that the AASC and the African Olympic Committee will organize the All-African Games for the next three sessions, starting with the 2019 session.
Experience in the Media
All of Ahmed Nasser’s media productions have contributed to the promotion of sports, a positive sports culture, and the timely resolution of problems in the field of sports. In his years as a media personality, he has hosted prominent sports leaders from Egypt, Africa [ ? ], the Arab nations, and the world.
Nasser’s experience in the media has helped him to become a media professional, producer, sports presenter and a well-known sports commentator. This includes the U17 FIFA World Championship Egypt 97, for example, for which Nasser was responsible for the drawing, opening, closing, and marketing committees. He also contributed to the International Triathlon Union by opening up new marketing areas as he introduced the sport in a number of Arab countries. Under his leadership, membership in the Union has increased from 2 to 19, and promotional efforts in Africa have expanded the number of countries there from 8 to 44.
Beginning in 1979, in Texas, Nasser launched his career in sports media. He then returned to Cairo where, as a well-known sports personality, he began producing quality sports programs for Egyptian television. He continues to serve as a TV commentator for a number of Olympic, international, and national competitions in such sports as swimming, equestrian, shooting, fencing, modern pentathlon, athletics, and pistol shooting. He participated in the commentary at the Olympic Games in the years 1984, 1988, 1996, 2000, 2004, 2008, 2012, and 2016.

Nasser also presented since 8 years and still the “Sports Pictures” program, which broadcasts weekly on Egypt’s Channel 2.
Today, Nasser is spearheading a national project – “Triathlon: A Way of Life and Championship” – to foster a sports culture in schools in Egypt. He recently signed an agreement with Egypt’s Minister of Education to initiate a project that promotes sports, especially Triathlon, in all of Egypt’s public, state, and technical schools.
Major General Ahmed Nasser believes that sports has no geographical or cultural limits. With this in mind, he is helping to “spread the word” throughout the Arab world and on the continent of Africa, with a growing population that will soon reach 1.3 billion.
